After persistent fighting that began on Sunday, December 7, when Cambodian forces struck targets in the Phu Pha Lek–Phlan Hin Paet Kon corridor in Kantharalak district, Si Sa Ket province, an updated briefing on Monday, December 8, from Maj Gen Winthai Suvaree—spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army—provided the latest details.
According to the spokesperson, early Monday morning saw renewed hostilities in the Chong An Ma sector of Nam Yuen district, Nam Yuen is part of Ubon Ratchathani province. Cambodian soldiers reportedly opened fire with small-arms and indirect-fire weapons at approximately 5:05 a.m. and maintained their attacks thereafter. Thailand’s forces replied in kind, adhering to the rules of engagement and employing both small arms and indirect-fire munitions in response, while efforts to evacuate nearby civilians continued alongside the fighting.
